Envato Tuts+

Envato Tuts+ is an Australian-owned online educational website, part of Envato, which is primarily known for its marketplaces of online stock images, websites, fonts, videos, and so on.

In 2009 I got my first tutorial published there: Add Depth to Your Game With Parallax Scrolling; a few months after that I was offered the new Technical Editor role at the Adobe Flash topic, and later on I became the full editor of that site and eventually shut it down and started up a new site covering Game Development.

You can see the posts I’ve written, and a great selection of tutorials I had a hand in editing on gamedeveloper.com.

For the past decade or so I’ve also had the word “data” in my job title. Because Envato Tuts+ has a tight-knit, autonomous team, I’ve been fortunate enough to have this part of my role cover a very broad field: analysis, engineering, data modelling, forecasting, investigation… It’s a great position for me to follow my interests in using maths and code to solve problems, and breaking down complex topics in a way others can understand.
